FAQs // frequently asked questions

How do I schedule an appointment?

If you’re a returning client, you can give us a call at 409.363.5003 or send us a message on Instagram or Facebook to book an appointment. If you’re a NEW client, that hasn’t been in before, please fill out the New Color Client Application. After this is completed, we’ll give you a call to set up your appointment.

What do I do if I need to cancel my appointment?

We ask that you give us at least 72 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Our income is a direct reflection on the productivity behind the chair. We would like to have time to fill the spot and make that income in the event that you need to cancel. We understand things happen, and people get sick; please give us the courtesy of letting us know in a timely manner. You can view more Salon Policies here.

What should I do if I am running late?

As hairstylists, we run very tight schedules. So much so that every half hour in our day is accounted for. If you are more than 15 minutes late to your scheduled appointment time, we will reschedule you to the next available time with that artist. Every guest deserves our attention at their scheduled appointments and when we run behind, someone else’s experience ends up being compromised.

My hair color from my last appointment is fading faster than normal, what can I do?

If your hair color is fading, you can come in for a toner. We have many, many clients that come in for a toner in between appointments. If your blonde is getting brassy, if your dark is fading, or anything else that resonates with this, a toner is a lifesaver. It helps your color last when you aren’t ready for a full-service appointment just yet.
Also, take a look in your shower and see what shampoo + conditioner you’re using. Is it professional grade? We carry Oribe and Mr. Smith at the salon and we guarantee the longevity of your hair color when using our recommended products at home.

What shampoo + conditioner do I need? What would be good for my hair type?

During your appointment with us, your stylist will be more than welcome to consult with you for this! If it slipped your mind last time, or you need a refill sooner, you can always shoot your artist a quick message on Instagram.

How much are Hand-Tied Extensions?

We get this question often, you’re not alone. We love many things about hand tied extensions. Largely, how they’re customizable to every single client. The color, the length, etc., all varies from client to client. Because of this, it’s not exactly possible for us to give a set price for a Hand Tied Extensions install. Someone else might need a complete color makeover and 2 rows of 22”, while you’d just need a touch up here and there and 1 row of 18” to reach your goal. This is why, to book an appointment for HTE with us, you MUST fill out our Hand-Tied Extensions Consultation form. From here, we can get a better idea of what you want, what we’re starting with, and how much the service would cost for you specifically!

Can new clients come in for a consultation for color appointments?

Of course! It’s very helpful if you’re a first-time client wondering how the process will go. Plus, it gives us extra scheduled time to figure out exactly what your hair goals are and ensures that we schedule plenty of time to reach them for you.

I’m not sure if I need a color correction or not. What are the guidelines to this service?

A color correction service is specifically for clients that are requesting a large change in their hair color, clients who received a negative outcome with a previous color service, clients that have waited an extended amount of time between hair appointments, or clients that have experimented with “DIY Hair Color” (ex: boxcolor, nonprofessional color, etc.) If you’re unsure, you can book a consultation with any of our artists to get a better idea of what your appointment will entail.

Do you accept walk-in appointments?

Thankfully, more often than not, our stylists stay completely booked. There are times when a haircut appointment might be possible as a walk-in, but not often. We suggest you give us a call before coming in to check! Also, we post our stylists’ openings for the week on our Instagram story on Mondays. If you’re needing an appointment last minute, you can always watch these and slide up to grab one!

Are you open on Saturdays?

Yes! Well….sometimes. We open Saturday appointments up to our clients during the second and forth quarters of the year. The dated mentality of being a hairstylist and working every single Saturday is a thing of the past. At KP Styling we are huge on work-life balance. Our artists work HARD open to close all week long. That is why they need those 2 precious weekend days to spend time with family, friends, and recharge. So you can catch us working Saturdays during our busiest times of the year (end of school year/prom/graduation/beginning of summer….and of course the holidays). Besides that, we will be off on Saturdays with the rest of the world.

What if I’m not happy with my hair after I leave the salon?

Here at KP Styling, we strive to do our best to reach your hair goals with the time slot allotted. If after your appointment, you’re unhappy with the results, you can give us a call to schedule a redo appointment with the same stylist for no charge. We want nothing more than for you to be in love with your hair! We have a 2 week grace period policy for re-dos. If you do not call within 2 weeks after your original appointment date you will have to pay for a whole separate service.

What if I want to switch stylists? Is that weird? Will it be awkward?

No! Our stylists completely understand that there are many reasons that clients need to see another stylist. Whether it be budget, scheduling, or any other issues. We’re more than happy to accommodate each of our clients to have the smoothest possible experience with us.

What if I lose a personal item at the salon?

In the event you misplace a personal item, we will do our best to help find your belongings and give you a call if it turns up. While you are here at KP Styling, we offer locker keys to make sure your belongings are put away and kept safe for the duration of your appointment. The person working the front desk will offer you a key upon check-in, or you can ask for one at any point during your appointment.
